Social Media “Friends”

To everyone who’s seen their friends list shrink and have no idea why:

Don’t take it to heart. I’ve been there—wondering what I did wrong when people “unfriended” me. But let’s be honest, Facebook calling them “friends” is quite manipulative. It’s just a digital connection, not a measure of your real relationships. True friends reach out in meaningful ways, and Facebook is only one of many ways to stay in touch. I’ve fallen into the same trap, so I’m working on it, too.

Instead of feeling hurt by a number, ask yourself why it matters. You’re reacting to something on a screen, not a real, face-to-face conversation.

See this as an opportunity to create healthier boundaries. Social media doesn’t define your friendships, and it never will. Focus on what truly matters and let the rest go.
