Every December, I try to grab 2 friends and see who needs a little free web site help. This year, everyone seems fine, so I reached out to a social media personality who I do not know at all in real life.
I’m a huge ball of nerves now, because I’m the kind of person who jumps ahead 10 steps and is worried I could become a source of stress. For a stranger. To someone I don’t know and will never meet in real life. There is no logic to my worries. š¤¦āāļø
But, what is logical:
- Everyone I know as a friend or colleague started out as a stranger.
- I’m offering something for free. It’ll all be fine (thanks, Lindsey)
- I took a chance and stuck my neck out, which I do not do. That’s huge, and is something that should be commended.
Bottom line: I’m super nervous, but this is all good stuff! Even if I hear nothing, I can feel confident in the simple fact that I tried.
A bit of a tangent: making friends and simply meeting new people gets harder and harder as you get older. I’m trying to put my energies towards making connections, and the only way to do that is to be vulnerable like this. š
